Imagine this: a 40-foot container housing a dozen celebrities hurtling down a Thai highway. Alongside it, another 40-foot container packed with a state-of-the-art Master Control Room, capturing every exchange, every alliance, every moment of drama. This was how we captured the raw energy of “Global Gladiators”.
Let’s look at the math behind what’s involved in a production this size:
It’s mobilizing an army of over 120 crew members. It’s running more than 55 cameras simultaneously – that includes a crazy mix of manned units, hidden PTZ cameras, and sweeping drone shots. That also meant getting 4,500 meals served and 30,000 kilometers covered.
All in all, it was the culmination of meticulous location scouting across Thailand that led to us finding and transforming an entire resort into a fully-vetted, high-security production bubble – altogether accommodating around 3,000 rooms worth of hotel bookings across the entire production. And this is one example of our craziest international productions in Asia.
The first week on set is always electric: jetlagged celebrities meet a wave of technicians, and the whole operation runs on equal parts caffeine and adrenaline. Frankly, we wouldn’t have made it without our seasoned fixers in Thailand, who each helped keep the production controlled and the creativity flowing all the same. All the preparation, the weeks of planning and technical setups, ultimately converges on one moment: Day 1 of filming, when the entire crew, united in purpose, finally gets the cameras rolling.
Large-scale international productions here are a different breed – but for years, our crew at Mediawok has been the trusted on-the-ground partner for these television titans, turning the nation’s renowned, diverse and beautiful landscapes into a reliable stage for world-class entertainment.
But let’s be clear – this isn’t a “how-to” guide. Just proof of how we regularly turn the impossible into an unforgettable show.
Step 1: Mastering Pre-Production & Location for Video Production in Thailand
Months before the first camera rolls, the real battle begins. Success in a production of this scale is predicated on extremely detailed planning rooted in our deep, long-standing regional expertise.
On “Global Gladiators,” the client dreamed of staging a challenge in the heart of Bangkok. For those who know Bangkok, you’ll know this is no easy feat. The level of location scouting across Thailand required for this project was immense. At first, it seemed impossible – but with our unrelenting persistence and negotiation, we made it happen. We managed to secure a parking lot where the massive containers containing our Gladiators could be comfortably spread and staged the breathtaking game – contestants holding onto each other while dangling from a high-rise tower – creating one of the show’s most iconic images.

But just days before the shoot, a royal event triggered a blanket ban on all drone flights in the area. The epic aerial shots the client required were suddenly off the table.
This is where having the right fixer in Thailand has to offer becomes the show’s lifeline.
We were able to secure a rare exemption, signed by the royal court itself. The shoot went ahead, and the aerial footage became a defining highlight of the season.
This is the invisible work: knowing not just the rules, but the exceptions to the rules. It’s the same expertise we apply when scouting a “celebrity villa,” where the criteria go far beyond a great view:
- Separate Crew Access: To ensure our technical teams can work their magic without ever disrupting the talent.
- Power Grid Stability: To handle the immense load of lighting, cameras, and air-conditioning without a single flicker.
- Sound Insulation: To shield the production from the unpredictable symphony of street noise, construction, or even late-night karaoke that can ruin a perfect take.
Step 2: How We Secure On-Site Tech for Any Thailand Production
In modern reality TV, the set is a fortress of technology. Our custom-built, 40-foot Master Control Room (MCR) container for “Global Gladiators” was the production’s technical nerve center, housing the systems that captured every angle, every word, 24/7.
Our rolling headquarters provides so much more than convenience. Really, it’s the foundation for all of our strategic decision-making, giving us a highly accessible and portable solution that equips international directors with real-time creative control.
Not only does this ensure every terabyte of crucial data is flawlessly managed, but it’s also how we make sure we’re equipped to plan and prepare for any and all issues that might arise. This is the kind of international production service demanded when filming in Asia, especially when you’re far from the familiarities of filming at home while still needing flawless production or needing to stay on track with the most demanding of schedules.
Step 3: Crisis Management in Thai Video Production – How We Prevail When It All Goes Wrong
No blueprint is complete without a plan for when a crisis strikes. Some may see it as their greatest weakness – but for us, we see it as an opportunity to prove our true worth.
On day one of “Global Gladiators,” disaster struck – as it does. A tour bus had lost control, vaulted the highway barrier, and smashed directly into our MCR truck. The entire production’s MCR was seized on the spot by police for investigation. In short, the show was at risk of collapsing before it had even begun.
But within minutes, our expert fixers in Thailand got to work. They knew they were needed in that moment, and instead of panicking, they acted. They negotiated tirelessly with authorities through the night, exploring and leveraging every relationship we have.
By morning, they had secured the container’s release.
But the disaster didn’t stop there – we learned that a critical control panel was destroyed. Yet again, within hours, our technical team had sourced a replacement, installed it, and got the MCR humming again.
Against all odds, production continued with barely a delay visible to the client. The accident was a living nightmare for any crew – but ours kept calm under pressure and got right into problem-solving, turning a potential catastrophe into a testament to our commitment to world-class video production in Thailand.

Mediawok’s Philosophy: Excellence is Our Standard for Video Production in Thailand
What’s the secret to pulling all of this off, season after season?
Beyond logistics and tech, the single most important element is trust. The client has to trust that you will move mountains for their vision. The crew has to trust the plan. And we have to trust our deep, instinctual knowledge of this country.
Our philosophy is simple: Your vision, our commitment – world-class production, no matter what it takes.
We don’t just solve problems but actively work to turn challenges into opportunities. We don’t just meet expectations but always strive to deliver the extraordinary. Because in the high-stakes world of international production services in Asia, you don’t settle for second best. Ever.
